Initially, my question for the EPQ project was "How does music affect the brain and is it a valuable form of therapy?". This was going to focus on the idea of music helping people with mental health issues and the effects that it had psychologically. However, I did a few pages of research on this topic before deciding that it may not benefit me in the future as much as researching a topic around literature would, (as this is what I want to do in University).
Research for Music Therapy
As someone who is interested in literature and the people behind it within the education system, I decided to instead focus on why we study mainly Western cultures within schools, and if this is making us more unaware and ignorant to other cultures and other countries around the world.
I plan to use mainly secondary research when looking into this topic, however will also look into putting in some primary data through questionnaires and interviews with people in this area, whether this be emailing people from other cultures about their education system and their views on it or interviewing people who have been involved in the education system surrounding literature.
